Luka Širok (b. 1982, Šempeter pri Novi Gorici, Slovenia) is a contemporary painter and visual artist working between Slovenia and Italy. He graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice after studying at the Max Fabiani Art School in Gorizia. His practice is centred on painting while also extending to drawing, collage, installation and hybrid visual forms.

Širok's work investigates perception, psychological space and the instability of contemporary visual experience. Working between figuration and abstraction, he constructs images through reduction rather than description. Fragments of architecture, landscapes, interiors and human presence are transformed into contemplative spaces where atmosphere, silence and light become the primary carriers of meaning. His recent paintings focus on nocturnal environments in which artificial light reveals only fragments of reality, inviting viewers to engage with uncertainty rather than narrative resolution.

Although painting remains central to his practice, he continuously expands his visual language through experimentation and cross-disciplinary approaches. His work reflects on how images are constructed, remembered and reinterpreted, exploring the relationship between observation, memory and perception.

Širok has presented his work extensively in Slovenia and internationally through solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Austria, Germany and Croatia.
